There are no minimum pre-entry hour or time requirements to begin the course, this can be done any time after qualifying for a PPL. However for those pilots who have no tailwheel or aircraft type experience relevant to the aircraft in use for the course, suitable training will be required.
The aerobatic training course consists of:
- A minimum of 8 hours dual flying with an instructor (The syllabus covers training in items such as basic aerobatic manoeuvres, stall/spin, unusual attitude recovery and aerobatic sequences)
- A minimum of 8 hours theoretical knowledge training (Some of this ground school may be carried out through self-study by the student)
- An air test with an AOPA registered instructor (This flight is additional to the 8 hours required for the course).
Some candidates already having some aerobatic experience may qualify for a reduction in the flying hour requirement for the course. |
